This installation consists of thirty-one transparent boxes filled with spices that give off different smells, producing an almost imperceptible symphony of scents that evokes breathing as a form of capturing the world. In the upper part of each box a film still is printed on transparent photographic paper reproducing the complete sequence of the birth of a little girl. The last still shows an almost absurd warning taken from the packaging of a baby’s bath, which leads us to think of how we look after children, what responsibilities we acquire with them. V.R.
